# Accounts

Cloud Clipboard works without an account, and unlocks cloud sync when you sign in. Account controls live in the right **sidebar** under **Account**.

## Anonymous vs signed in

| Mode | What you get |
|---|---|
| **Anonymous** | Editor works on this device only. Content stays in local storage. Images stay as local blobs (no public image URLs). No cloud sync. |
| **Signed in** | Same content syncs to your other devices. Images upload and become public `img.*` URLs. Sidebar shows cloud usage and retention. |

Anonymous content is **not** merged into the cloud automatically. After you sign in, if the cloud is empty and this device still has local content, a dialog asks whether to upload it.

## Register

1. Open the sidebar → **Register**.
2. Enter a real email (disposable domains are blocked).
3. Either set a password (at least 8 characters), or check **Register without password**.
4. Click **Register**. You are signed in on this device immediately.

Email verification is tracked, but you can sync before verifying.

## Sign in and passwordless accounts

- **Sign in** uses email + password.
- Accounts created with **Register without password** cannot use password sign-in until you set a password via **Forgot password**.
- You can add a password to a passwordless account; you **cannot** convert a password account back to passwordless.

## Forgot password

On the **Sign in** tab, enter your email and click **Forgot password**. The email link opens a reset dialog on the homepage. After you save a new password, every device session is revoked — sign in again with the new password.

## Sign out and delete

- **Sign out** ends only the current device session. Other devices stay signed in.
- **Delete account** soft-deletes the account, emails you a zip of your content, then permanently clears cloud data after **30 days**.
